Tracey Ann Jacobson Appointed Chargé d’Affaires at U.S. Embassy Dhaka

Dhaka, January 11, 2025 – Tracey Ann Jacobson, a distinguished career member of the Senior Foreign Service, is set to assume the role of Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka. Ambassador Jacobson brings extensive diplomatic experience, having served as U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kosovo.

In her most recent role, Ambassador Jacobson served as a Senior Advisor in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Prior to that, she was Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Beyond her overseas leadership positions, she has played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. diplomacy through her service as Dean of the School of Professional and Area Studies and Deputy Director of the National Foreign Affairs Training Center. Her Washington, D.C. assignments include serving as Deputy Executive Secretary and Senior Director for Administration at the National Security Council, as well as Deputy Ambassador at the U.S. Embassy in Riga, Latvia.

Ambassador Jacobson holds a Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s degree from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins. Her achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award, two Presidential Rank Awards, and Kosovo’s Order for Peace, Democracy, and Humanism, “Ibrahim Rugova.”

With her arrival, Megan Bouldin will resume her responsibilities as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka.##
